The Falklands   no comments

While reading an article about the Falkland Islands on the bbc website I came across the picture below and thanks to a familiar place name figured it had to have a place on my blog.

Tourist, cruise ship, memorial to Argentine dead, black cab, soldiers training, penguins

A german PAK 40 in the desert. This gun was the next step up from the PAK 38 which was not really up to the job in the later years in the desert.

On my many recent walks with the dogs checking up on the rather large quantity of willow I’ve planted over the last few months I’ve forgotten to take the camera, not so today.

This willow is one of seventeen different cuttings I purchased of an Ebay seller (Yorkshire Willow as I recall), almost all have ‘caught’ but this one is racing ahead in terms of new growth.  I know it’s basic stuff but I clearly missed out on appreciating it as a child. (too busy playing perhaps?)

Flames of War- At last a battle!   no comments

Out of the blue on Thursday a good friend actually suggested that he’d be up for some FoW action; Game On!

This was another opportunity to get some more practice in seeing as I’d recently agreed to attend a FoW tournie in Evesham. I figured it would be courteous to the other players if I had at least a basic grasp of the game.

It’s always fun playing Trev, based on some honestly gained information I suggested that he grab the infantry force and I play the Tank Company and that he should defend. Unfortunately in panned out that I shot him to bits, without doubt we did many things wrong, the next game will be more evenly balanced.

I grabbed some piccies, note that the lighting wasn’t brilliant.
