Bancffosfelen Junior Football Club Meeting
Minutes- 7.30 pm ,September 18th 2008
at
Pontyberem Workingmen’s Club

Presiding- Alex Storch

Present: Andy Hennessy, Reynallt Stephens, Julie Evans, Stewart Hey, Sharon Condon.

Apologies: Michelle Humphries, Keith Evans.

Minutes of last meeting: None

Matters Arising: None

Item B-

1) AP It was decided that a comprehensive list needs to be drawn up to show what qualifications (if any) each and every one of our coaches has. This is crucial as the club has to ensure it meets current or imminent FAW requirements.
2) AP To make every effort to ensure those who have expressed an interest to help the club with coaching has the opportunity to do so at their earliest convenience.
3) AP Another list to be made to ensure that anyone that has any connection with helping in any way at the club is CRB checked. Although it seems a waste of resources those who have had CRB checks done for other groups or organisations or at work are not acceptable.
Item C-

1) The coaches from the girls side of the clubs were happy with their current membership and did not think that any extra effort was needed to increase membership numbers. Reynallt mentioned that he has been approached by Dafen u14s Girls who had disbanded due to lack of support/numbers to see if Bancffosfelen would like to merge. Clearly, given the current strength in numbers of the newly (re)formed u14s Girls team Reynallt didn’t think this was a good idea at all, although if any u14 girls from Dafen wanted to come to our training sessions they would be made welcome.
2) Due to not having representatives from the other sections of the club no comment was made on their numbers and/or the need to increase them.
3) Andy Hennessey mentioned asked if there was a possibility of having an under 8s girls team as there were some players from his squad who would qualify for this team. Reynallt didn’t think there was a league for this.
AP Find out if there is a league initially before following up. Note that Andy stated that he would not want to coach said team if it came about.
Item D.

1) Left for next meeting. Re: Horse racing idea.

Item E.
1) Julie Evans asked for the opinion on details of the ‘100 Club’.
Consensus was that if Julie was prepared to put in the time to kick this off and carry out the bulk of the work associated with it then the club would happily back her decisions in connection with it. Figures suggested were for a payment of £10-12 and to aim for 100 members, with 9 monthly draws of potentially £50 prize, leaving £500 in kitty. Draw to be made during monthly committee meeting. More details to follow from Julie.

Item F
1) Seeing as the previous curry night was universally claimed to be a success it was decided that another one was required as a social event as well as a fund raising one. AP To visit the Indian Restaurant in Crosshands as they apparently offer a similar evening to the Verandah and ask for details and/or ask the ‘new’ New Inn is they would like to carry out something similar. Consequently update to follow.
2) Quiz night. Lots of ideas put forward for this including a combined Halloween/Quiz night with the quiz being aimed predominantly at the children. Fancy dress for the evening was suggested too with a fine for parents not ‘dressing up’. AP To check with the Cricket Club to ensure they have a spare slot and that they are not doing something similar themselves (i.e.Halloween Party). Dates suggested were during Half Term at the end of October,

Item G.
1) Andy Hennessey stated that some proper corner flags would be useful. AP – Look into what’s available.
2) Andy also suggested that some form of secure storage would be a good idea, especially in view of the missing footballs (last season). Reynallt/Stewart (?) suggested a strong box of sorts which could be kept in the changing rooms, ideally secured to a wall/floor. AP Stewart is going to use funds (Girls’ subs) to purchase one for their group.

Any other business.

Reynallt: Training facilities with the onset of winter need to be assessed and in view of this he has been in contact with Porthyrhyd (Rugby/football) club to ask about using their facilities. More details to follow.
Further, we need to ask the village Rugby Club if we can use their floodlit pitch in due course. AP Stewart to find out who is the contact point.

Julie Evans proposed that we should have our meetings at a fixed time each month. Andy Seconded.
Consequently meeting will now be in the 1st Thursday of each month at 7.30 in the Workingmens Club.

Meeting terminated 21:10.
Date of next meeting: October 2nd 2008 @ 7.30pm.
